S&S March GDT Challenge

Helloo!  I’ve finally completed my project for the March GDT Challenge on Smeared and SmudgedMark Gould is the super talented guest designer this month, and his challenge is to Alter Something.  Now, you may be thinking, why did this project take me most of the month to complete?  Well, it may not look like it, but I had to go through a lot of steps to finish this.  I’m going to overwhelm you with photos so that you’ll understand.Winking smile

So, I started out with this somewhat tacky silver frame, a plain white box, and a digi I colored from Smeared Ink.

I gessoed and painted the frame and box.  And I put a layer of clear crackle paint over the picture.

Then I rubbed Distress ink over the crackles, and I added some crackle paint to the frame.

And now you can be happy, because I forgot to take pics of the rest of the steps, haha.

So, here’s the finished project…

(I added wooden accents to the sides.  I painted, crackled, and distressed them)

Here are some good close ups of the crackles and such.

And, of course, I had to get carried away and do stuff to the insides of the box, too.  I thought of it as a little faery home, where she could keep things that she found/stole along her journeys.

The inside of the lid reads:  “Home Twisted Home”.

(And now you all know that I like to drink hard cider.)

And this is actually my favorite bit of the whole project…

He’s also a digi from Smeared Ink.

If you made it through this whole post you have my thanks!

SBS Fan Page Challenge

Hello again!  I know, two posts in one day, it’s a miracle!  So on Facebook there’s a Simply B Stamps Fan Group.  And from time to time Betty gives us some incredible freebies to work with…and oftentimes there’s a challenge to go along with the image.  Our challenge right now is to use the image we were given to make a project using only black, cream, and one other color.(skin and hair don’t count)  You can find out more about the challenge on the SBS Blog.  And if you like this image, you can find a couple of equally awesome images from the same line at Simply B Stamps.

Here’s the card I made…

I really should have thought this through, though.  I had a really hard time finding things that were the exact same rusty red orange color that her gown is, haha.  But I did eventually find something.Winking smile

And here you can see that Medusa and the paper under her are “popped up”.

March Smeared and Smudged Member Hop!

I haven’t done one of these in a while, so I’m very happy to be joining in the monthly member hop from Smeared and Smudged today.  The theme we were given was “END OF THE RAINBOW...SHOW US WHAT'S AT THE END OF YOUR RAINBOW”.

If you arrived here from the ever lovely Kapree, then you’re on the right track.  If not, the full hop list will be posted below so that you can find your way.

So, I was actually honest with this one.  I thought about what I would like to find at the end of a rainbow and although I did consider a portal to Wonderland, this is what I would be happier with.Winking smile

Ever since I was a little kid I have wanted to run away with the circus.  I’ve always seen myself as a bit of a sideshow freak.  And then I read The Night Circus last month.  So I would want to be a part of “Le Cirque des Reves” in particular.

The contortionist image is from Smeared Ink.  The twisted tree stamp is from Taylored Expressions.

I’d also like to enter this into the current challenge at Smudgy Antics, which is Anything But A Card.(My project is a canvas panel)

Thanks for looking!  Your next stop is the always amazing Susan S.!

Happy Hopping!

Movie Magic Monthly–Challenge #2!

Hello!  Today we are bringing you the 2nd challenge at Movie Magic Monthly.  The theme this month is…

The Twilight Saga!

Here’s a card I made, using the first Twilight-esque stamp I ever bought, from The Greeting Farm.  I stamped him on sticky back canvas and then colored him.  He has a little bit of sparkle around the edges, but it’s hard to make it out in the photos.

I Crumbled It

Hello!  I actually played along with a challenge!  I made something for the current challenge at Smudgy Antics, which is Crumble It.  I crumbled my piece of Core’dinations Black Magic cardstock, and then I sanded the black off of the raised bits.  It was fun!  Then, I used that paper to make a new cover for a small journal.

The image I used is one of my very favorite stamps.  It’s Inner Workings – Compartment Heart from Smeared Ink.  And I added some silk yarn for a little extra pizzazz.

Queen of Hearts Journal Page

Hi!  Here’s a journal page I made to go along with our current challenge at Movie Magic Monthly.  It also goes along with a few of the journal prompts I’ve posted on the Smeared and Smudged forum.

DSCN0184

The “Off with her head” stamp and the queen stamp are from Stamp Camp.  I bought them at Stampaway last year.

I enjoyed making this page.  I used paints, dylusion ink, and little scraps of cardboard from one of those coffee cup sleeves.  And the little gear thingie spins.
