Copic Questions

Hi! Sorry it's been over a week since I posted here last, I'll try to start doing better. I had a couple of questions for all of you who are experienced with the Copic Sketch Markers. I'm looking to buy a few more(I only have 3 right now) and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations of what colors I really need to have? I really enjoy coloring in the digi stamps from TGF and other places, as well as coloring in some traditional stamped images. I'm still learning how to best use the markers. I have a few Prismacolor ones, too, but I really prefer the feel of the Copics. The Copic colors I have thus far are: E00-Skin White, E49-Dark Bark, and Y21-Buttercup Yellow. I want to find a color that would be good for darker skin, such as for Jacob Black images.;) I also would like to find a good medium to dark blue for jeans and the like. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I am thoroughly overwhelmed by the 300+ colors available. Thanks in advance!:)

I wish I could help you but I really know so little about them. My suggestion is to ask the rest of the TTIC girls. I think we may even have a thread in the forums. Take a peek! If there isn't one, start it! They will be happy to help you I'm sure! maybe then, I'll learn something too!

Laura,

Jump over to Claudia's store at DCRU and check out her Copics sections. She had Jessica group them in sets to help all of us Copic Challenged Crafters. She had skin, hair colors, blue jeans, etc. The trick is to buy at least two colors in the same group close to the same shades. Like for skin one that is popular is R00 mixed up with R02 and R04. Why? Hightlighting. Here is a blog I get tutes from regarding the copics. She works for the company and teaches certification classes and makes it all so easy. I'm far from a pro myself but after seeing her tutes and also Jessica's spotlight on DCRU. Here are the links: http://ilikemarkers.blogspot.com/ and Jessica's spotlight: http://diecutsrus.blogspot.com/2009/10/discovery-zone-thursday.html

Try these and see if they help. You can also find some great tutorials at www.copictoo.com I found a very helpful informational there, I just don't have it saved on this computer so I have no idea the direct link.

Take care!
Gwen

Gwen here is my suggestion... buy in groups of three. If you buy any one color be sure to get three of that same color that are similar. Like for skin I have E000, E00 and E02 so that I can blend them to make the subtle color changes. Very similar to what Claudia has groups at DCRU. But I always try to have a light, a medium and a dark of each tone of a color when I get them so I can blend. I hope that makes sense. And a colorless blender... must have one of those. :D Holler if you need any help. :D
