Blog Candy!

Yeah, I couldn’t wait till the weekend, so I’m going ahead and posting this.;)

The moment has arrived.  I’m giving away candy to celebrate my 2 year blogiversary, as well as the fact that I have surpassed 50 followers!!  Woo Hoo!

I’ve already collected some things together.  See here…

And I will continue to collect a few things here and there up until the actual drawing for the prize.  I will try to post pics of what I add as I collect said things.

OK, now for the rules section…

To enter to win you must be a follower of my blog, either by email, or through the Google Connect thingy over there on the left.  The candy is to celebrate my blog and my followers, so I think that it’s only fair.(you may begin following me and then enter, though)

Next, you must comment on this post.  Your comment is your entry.

If you are really eager to win, and desire an extra entry, you must post my blog candy button on your blog, or make a post about my candy.  Then come back and comment again to let me know you’ve done so.  Button can be found to the right ---->

This giveaway is open internationally, but if there are customs fees, duties, taxes, etc. that’s your responsibility.

Entries will be accepted up until 11:59pm US Eastern time on October 20, 2011.

Winner will be drawn on October 21st, 2011 because that’s my blogiversary!

Thank you for all of your support and awesome comments over the past 2 years!  You rock!

Week 10 Journal Page

The challenge from this past week was to use some kind of tearing technique on our pages.  I tore up a magazine page to make a giant pencil shaving for my page.

LAURA_BOYD_WEEK10

Sorry it’s blurry.  I can’t seem to get any good pictures lately.  Ugh.  This isn’t what I intended to do with my page this week, but it kind of just happened.

Thanks for looking!

DTBST #92-Autumn Colors

Hi!  This is my last post as a Guest Designer for Sassy Studio Designs.  I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the ladies at SSD!  It’s been a pleasure working with you this month!:)

The challenge this week is simple…use autumn colors.  Here’s my card…

100_5839

100_5841

100_5840

Sorry if the pics look a little hazy.  My 3-year-old had gotten his tiny fingerprints on my camera lens.

Papers from my stash.  Stickers from K&Co.  I used Distress Stains on the textured background piece and along the edges of the image piece.  Anyone else still trying to get used to how to use these?  It’s been a bit of a learning process for me.

Thanks for looking!  And thanks for all of the great comments people have left on my Sassy projects this month!:)

Pixie’s Bookshelf Hope in a Jar Challenge

Hello again.  Just popping in to show you the card I made for the current Pixie’s Bookshelf challenge.  The challenge is to use scallops and flowers in your creation, and to make it very girly.  Also, since this challenge was inspired by this month’s reading selection “Hope in a Jar” and the main theme of the story is friendship, I wanted to tie that in as well.

I used February Pixie for my card.  I used an EK Success sticker for my sentiment.

Terrifying Transformation!

Hello.  Well, I tried something new.  It didn’t turn out quite as nice as I had hoped, but I learned from the experience and may try this style of card again later.  I made this card to go along with the Smeared and Smudged September GDT Challenge.  The challenge was to make a gothic arch card.

Because of the layout of this card, I decided I wanted to use both the traditional Jacob and Werewolf Jacob from Simply Betty Stamps to show a gradual transformation.  The inside image is from AnnWolfff on DeviantArt.

Front of card…

What a Pear!

I love punny sentiments, so I really had to use one with the awesome pear image from A Day For Daisies.  I made this card and tea bag holder for their current challenge to “Get Gift~y”.

Paper is from Echo Park.  Sentiment is my own.  I decided to make the pears of the brownish variety just to be different.;)

Week 9 Art Journal Page

Hello again.  I know, two posts in a row?  I am afraid I’ll forget to post if I don’t do it now.  That’s how fried my brain is right now, lol.  I was awake until 6am this morning, just couldn’t relax enough to go sleep.  It happens sometimes.  Anyway, on to the real subject of this post.  I wanted to share my Week 9 page from the ongoing art journaling project from The Greeting Farm.  This week’s challenge was to “Cut and Paste”.  Basically, to find a head from a magazine, cut it out, then draw your own body for it.  I like how my page turned out, but I couldn’t get any of the photos to come out well.  They either didn’t show any of the glitter or they glared off of the magazine clipping.  C’est la vie.

LAURA_BOYD_WEEK9

Acrylic paints, Stickles, and a black marker were used.

The words along the edge of the hill read:  even the most cynical of people may still have fairy tales in their hearts.

It was fun to make Britta into a fairy.:)  Yes, I am a fan of Community.

Hello!  If you’ve been hopping along you will have come here from Lindsay’s blog.  If not, you’ll want to start at the beginning at Sassy Studio Designs.  There are trivia questions at all of the stops, so you’ll want to visit and comment on them all for a chance to win one of these fabulous new images!  Plus, you really don’t want to miss out on the gorgeous projects from the DT!(they’re so very talented!)

Here’s the card I made using the new Frankenstein image…

100_5783

100_5782

I tried to color him to look like a black and white movie.  I used foam tape to pop him off the page a bit.  Paper is from DCWV and Martha Stewart.  The printed words are actually the concluding words from the novel Frankenstein.

Now for my trivia question:  How old was Mary Shelley when she began writing Frankenstein?

Here’s the hop order just in case you need it…

2 Sassy for You!

Sorry, I know that the title is really cheesy.;)  But I am going to show you 2 cards I’ve made using images from the Sassy Studio Designs shop.  First, my card for this week’s Dare to be Sassy Thursday.  The challenge is to use both stripes and polka dots.

100_5774

100_5776

(I don’t know why she’d want to sit in the liquid, but it was fun to color it that way, haha)

The second card features one of the new masked images.  I really love this one.  Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring the challenge over at Cooking It Up With Katie right now, so I made this one to go along with their challenge.  The challenge:

“Start with a Girl (or something Girlie)
Add a little (or a lot) of Green
Include a Group (more than 2 of the same thing)”

The gorgeous paper on this one is from Crafty Chaos Designs.  I thought it made a perfect frame for the lovely warrior queen.:)

100_5737

100_5738

I am so pleased to have another Marilyn Monroe image to play with!

And I used Glimmer Mist for the first time!  I think it looks kinda cool on the brick embossing.:)  The paper strips in the background are Echo Park, the rest is just stuff from my stash.  The little gear thing is Tim Holtz.  I think I’m finally getting the hang of coloring hair!

Gypsy Dreams

Hello and Welcome!  If you’ve stumbled here by chance, this Gypsy Dreams Blog Party originated here.  Thank you to Celia for organizing this event!

My Gypsy Dreams started a long time ago when I was a little girl.  I’ve always had a love of travel, forests, and handmade goods.  And I have a restless spirit.  I love to make things, too.  I make costumes just about every year for people going to the local renaissance festival.  One of my dreams would be to travel with a fair.  Anyway…

I’m not particularly good at drawing, but I drew a picture of what I would want my vardo to look like…

100_5729

I also love music.(it’s playing in the background if you didn’t notice already)  Another dream of mine is to return to belly dancing.  I started to learn how a few years ago, but I didn’t get very far, so I’d really like to go back to it.

I just have a couple more things to show you.  I made this card recently and I just felt like she was waiting for this party.:)

100_5654

She’s from Sassy Studio Designs.

And here are a couple of bracelets I made…

100_5723

If you like them you can enter below with the inlinkz thingy for a chance to have one.  I’ll use random.org to draw two winners for them.  (bracelets are approx. 7 1/2 inches long)  Just put a 1 by your name if you want the left one, or a 2 by your name if you want the right one.:)

Sorry I didn’t have more to show you.  I’ve been a bit under the weather recently.

Thank you for stopping by and letting me share some of my dreams with you!

hugs,

Laura

Week 7 Journal Pages

Hello.  I just wanted to share with you my pages from this past week’s art journaling.  The theme we were following was Every Cloud has a Silver Lining.  We were to create pages with clouds as the inspiration, using layering of mediums and such.  I used a cloud stamp that I got in a grab bag at Stampaway.(hurray for surprises!)  I used Copics, Distress Inks, cheap chalk type inks, and metallic white pearl acrylic paint.  Most of the words are just things that popped into my head at the time I was creating.  I added a couple of doodles in there, too.(I can’t really draw, but the desire is always there)  Anyway, here it is…

A Sassy Petal Card

Hello.  If you haven’t seen the post yet, they’ve posted the winners from the Sassy Masquerade over on the Sassy Studio blog.  The winner that Random.org chose from my comments was Sandra!  Congratulations Sandra!  If you haven’t already you can email Lindsay at sassystudiodesigns (at) yahoo (dot) com to claim your prize.

I’m sharing my first petal card with you today.  It was much easier than I thought it would be.  It was really pretty fun to  make.:)  I made this card for DTBST #89.  The challenge is to use buttons, bows, brads, and bling on your project.  That’s a lot of embellishments for me!  I chose to use the awesome Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend image from Sassy Studio Designs.

Here’s the inside of the card…

(sorry, the freebie isn’t here anymore)

This is Ariel.  Isn’t she cute?  I think all of the Little Honeys are so cute.  Grab her while you can, she won’t be here for very long.  But if you want more freebies just remember that every Friday is Fabulous Freebie Friday over on the Sassy Studio PCP group.  There’s a new image available for download there every week.

Now on to my project.  I colored her up and my 7-year-old daughter fell in love with her, so I decided to make a journal for her.

Week 6 Journal Page

Hello.  Just thought I’d pop in to show my journal page from this past week.  The theme we were to follow was Text Me!(using lots of text).  I actually had a lot of fun with this one.  I tore pages out of a cheap romance novel that my mother-in-law gave me and then proceeded to black out words until what you read on the pages was rather nonsensical.:)  Then I wrote a short poem about the experience, it’s rather silly too.(it’s along the edges of the pages)  And then I let my bratty attitude come to the fore for the painted words.

100_5647

100_5649

Thanks for looking!  Our theme this week involves clouds, so I haven’t figured that one out yet.

Oh, and make sure you come back tomorrow!  I’ll have something special for you.;)
