Bombshell Party – Wearable/Usable Art Challenge

Hi!  I’m back with a challenge for you!

We all know that Bombshell Stamps are versatile, but let’s see just how versatile they can be!  I am challenging you to use your Bombshell Stamps(rubber or digi) to create a project that is either wearable or usable.  There are tons of possibilities for this.  Jewelry, headbands, barrettes, shirts, candles, wall hangings, clipboards, etc.

You can have a lot of fun with this!

I made a sample for you.:)  I made some charms using Bombshell Angel.

100_6022

If you win this challenge the charms are yours!(I’ll even make them into jewelry if you want!)

Be sure to post your project in the Bombshell forum before Wednesday night at Midnight(PDT).  Just go to the Gamblers Annon section and look for the Wearable/Usable art thread.

Don’t forget to head over to the forum to check out all of the other challenges and games, too!  There are lots of prizes up for grabs!

Thanks for looking!  Hope to see you over there!

Bombshell Scavenger Hunt!

The Bombshell Forum re-launch party is getting underway!

I’ll be back later today with a challenge for you, but first I wanted to let you know about the Bombshell Scavenger Hunt!

All you have to do is visit the Bombshell’s blogs and look for the Senora Muerta logo.  It will be hidden.  But, it should be hidden in a post involving Bombshell Stamps, so that will help narrow down your searching a little on the blogs.  Once you’ve found Senora Muerta on as many blogs as you can then you’re going to need to email Glittery Katie at thecelticwitch@googlemail.com and let her know the addresses of the blogs and the dates of the posts you found them in.  There are prizes up for grabs to those who spot the most logos!

And yes, I do have a Senora Muerta logo hidden somewhere on my blog, so get looking!:)

See you later for more fun!  Don’t forget to check back at the forum from time to time to see what new games and challenges have been posted.

Pink and Green Ribbons

I’ve been meaning to do this post all month.  Most people are aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but a lot of people don’t know that it’s also Depression Awareness Month, which is symbolized by a green ribbon.

Both of my grandmothers had breast cancer.  One of them is a survivor.  My other grandmother received treatments for her breast cancer, but they didn’t get rid of all of it and it spread to her lungs and killed her.

Please remember to do your monthly self-exams.  And if you’re over a certain age, please don’t put off having your mammograms.

I made this card using Lynne Stansbery’s Shy Bear-Show Your Support image and Marlene’s Hope ribbon.

100_6009

100_6010

I think I’m going to give this card to my surviving grandmother, since she’s a bit attached to anything with a pink ribbon on it.

On to the next card.  Most people know someone who suffers from depression, whether they realize it or not.  I myself have struggled with it.  One of my friends killed herself.  Multiple others have attempted it.  People who have never been through these kinds of things often struggle to understand the how and why of it all.  Well, honestly, I don’t expect people to understand completely.  But what I do appreciate is a non-judging ear.  Someone who is quick to listen, but not quick to dismiss my feelings as trivial.  And if I don’t feel like talking, just knowing that someone is there for me, and that they really do need me in their life helps a lot.  Just some personal feelings of my own.

Please, tell the people you love that you love them.  Make sure they know that you are glad to have them in your life, that they really are needed.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post, it means a lot to me.

Week 13 Journal Pages

Lucky Number was the theme for this past week’s journal pages, so we were supposed to base our page on a number that was significant to us, whether it be lucky, or unlucky.

9 is my favorite number.  I have various reasons for this, but one reason I love this number is because my children’s names begin with I and X, thus forming the roman numeral for 9.  Also, my husband and I have been married for 9 years.:)

LAURA_BOYD_WEEK13

Of course, my daughter outdid me with her page this week…

100_5976

Now every Friday she asks me what the new theme is and goes off to create her own journal page.:)

But my son couldn’t be left out.  I walked into the front room and found him “doing some cwafting” ,he said…

100_5977v2

(don’t worry, I took the Cropadile away before he could hurt himself)

Now we just have to get my husband to join in, lol!

Sassy Progressive Relay Round 2

Wow.  I started this project yesterday, but I’m still getting this in close to the wire.  Ugh.  One day I’ll get something done in plenty of time.  Anyway, the challenge for this round was:  “Create a project using Steampunk Amelia plus a clock(s) and/or gears!”  Please visit Sassy Studio Designs for more details about this relay and celebration.:)

Of course I couldn’t just do a quick and simple card… I just had to try something new.  Silly me.  I can now say I have made a napkin fold card…

A Freebie…Just Because

Hi.  I felt like sharing today.:)  I made this a while back from a picture I took of my dad’s first sunflower to bloom this year.(he plants sunflowers every year along the edge of his garden)

I used the image to make a set of ATCs to swap at Stampaway in August.  See here…

100_5545

I enjoyed playing with the image, so I thought you might like it too!

Sunflower3

Click on the image and right click to save it.  Feel free to use it in your crafting projects.  All I ask is that I get credit for the image, and a link back here(if possible).  If you do make something with it would you please let me know?  I would love to see how you choose to use it.:)

Thank you!

I’m getting this in a little late, but I had to play along with this.  Sassy Studio Designs is celebrating 500 followers on their PCP group, so they’re hosting a progressive challenge right now.  The first round of the challenge was to make a project with Steampunk Josephine using metal embellishments.  Here’s my card…

Squigglefly Challenge #120

Hello.  The challenge this week at the Squigglefly challenge blog is to Face Your Fears.  I chose to focus on a common fear, one that many of my friends have.  Arachnophobia.  I myself am not super afraid of them, but if one dropped down in front of my face I don’t think I’d be too happy about it.

I used Marlene’s Eek! Spider! image from Squigglefly

100_5934

100_5937

I just love this poor little girl’s face.

Inside of card…

100_5939

Paper from Martha Stewart and DCWV.  Tissue tape from Tim Holtz.  Front sentiment stamp is Martha Stewart.  Corner punch from EK Success.  Inside sentiment from Create with TLC.  Spider punch from Studio G.

So…what are you afraid of?  Hopefully you’ll play along and let us know.;)

Trying to Catch Up

I’m so behind on things.  Part of the reason is that I’ve not been feeling well for the past 2 months(mostly severe allergies).  And another reason is that I have to have a costume done for my friend to wear to the renaissance festival this weekend!(I’ll be going dressed up, too)

So, I’m sorry, but I’m going to cram several things into this post.

First off, I have the privilege of being the Guest Designer this month on Smeared and Smudged.  I even have my own challenge for the month there.  You should totally check it out and play along! *wink wink nudge nudge*  It’s a color challenge.  Here’s the card I made for it…

100_5861

Paper from Crafty Chaos Designs and DCWV.  Tree image from The Graphics Fairy.  Grumpie stamp and winged heart stamp from Smeared Ink.

Next, I never got around to posting last week’s journal page, so here that is…

LAURA_BOYD_WEEK11

The challenge was Bloom and Grow(they featured this page on this week’s posting, woo hoo!)

The stamp was a $1 Studio G stamp.

And here’s a page my 7-yr-old daughter made to go along with the challenge…

100_5908

And that brings me to this week’s journal page.  This week’s challenge was to use watercolors, or similar looking techniques.

LAURA_BOYD_WEEK12

I used watercolor paints on sticky back canvas, and then applied those to my page.  The awesome stamp is from Smeared Ink.(colored with my Copics, and a little sparkle added)  The words are song lyrics from Your Betrayal by Bullet For My Valentine.  I actually got to see them and meet them earlier this year! *swoon*

Close up…

100_5932

And here’s the page my daughter made for this week…

100_5909

And I think that’s all I’ll try to squeeze in…for now.;)

ADFD #28 Challenge

This is so last minute.  I just kept forgetting when the challenge ended.  Well, it ends tonight!

This is for A Day For Daisies Challenge #28 - “Gimme Some Texture!”

100_5930

I think he’s a cute little lizard.:)

Paper from DCWV and Martha Stewart.  There’s flocking, embossing and yarn on this card, so hopefully I incorporated enough texture for the challenge.

You Can Help!

Most of you are already aware of Betty’s situation right now.  If not, please go HERE and read about what’s going on.

I can’t imagine the level of stress this family is under right now.  But that’s where we can help, at least with some of it.

Simply Betty Stamps has awesome clear, rubber, and digi stamps available.  If you’ve ever wanted to try their stamps, now would be the opportune time.  If you cannot afford to buy a bunch of stamps right now, then there is another option.  They’ve set up a donate button where you can donate any amount that you’re able to.  I know most of us are not wealthy people(I’m not!), but even if you just sacrificed one cup of coffee, or a magazine off the newsstand, it could make a difference towards the medical costs they’re going to have to face.  Every little bit helps, and it really does add up.  Plus, Betty doesn’t want you to go away empty handed, so if you do donate you will receive the awesome Zander digi stamp(seen to the right on the button linking you to Simply Betty’s blog).

And if you’ve done all you could already, then you rock!  And if you still want to help, then you can continue to spread the word about this.  And you can make a card to send to Christian to help encourage him through this.

Also, I found that there is a blog hop that started today.  It begins at Crafty Sprouts, and there are things along the way that are up for auction to help raise money for this cause.

Thank you for reading this.

Big Hugs,

Laura
