January Bombshell Hop

We have a really cool theme this month for our Hump Day Hop!  The amazing Alison chose the theme “Ring in the New!” – we were to try something new, something we’d never done before.  I had fun with this challenge.:)

Now, you should have arrived here from the Amazing Alison’s blog.  If you did not, you may want to go back to the beginning at the Bombshell Blog to make sure you don’t miss anything along the way.

I did a few new things for my project.  I had never used Distress inks to color with, so that was new.(although I’m going to look for a better tool to use for it in the future)  I had never used bottled alcohol ink before, so that was another new experience for me.  And I had never made a domino book, so that’s what I decided to do for my project.

Oh, and I just got the Homeward Bound set from Bombshell Stamps, so I just had to use that for this project.

Tutorial – Mini Notebook Cover

Hi!  I shared this tutorial the other day on the Bombshell blog, so I thought I’d post it here, too.

I recently bought some little scratch pads/notebooks to have handy in my desk drawer.  But they were completely plain, so I decided to make covers for them.  Here’s what I did…

The notebook measures 3”x5”(7.6cm x 12.7cm), so I cut a piece of cardstock 3”x12”(7.6cm x 30.5cm).  Then I scored the cardstock at 5”, 5 1/4”, 10 1/4”, and 10 1/2”(12.7cm, 13.3cm, 26cm, and 26.7cm).

(the stars mark the inner score lines on the cardstock)

You can choose whether you want to decorate the cover before or after you attach your notebook.  The notebook should be adhered to the cardstock in between the inner score lines.

Then you can finish any decorating of your cover, and choose what kind of closure you want.  I chose to use magnets for my closure.  I put a piece of magnet under the paper on the front…

And on the inside of the flap…

And here is the finished notebook…

I used Harley Bikes to decorate my cover.

Some Swap Pictures

Hello.  I just wanted to share a couple of pictures from the ATC swap I participated in this month over at Blissfull ATC Swap.  The theme was The World of Jane Austen.  So up my alley!

Here is the ATC I created for my partner…

100_6256

I used an image from Pride and Prejudice, since that’s my favorite Austen book.:)

And I couldn’t just send one little lonely ATC in the mail, so I made a few pins to send to my partner, too.

My partner was the lovely Karen, from Karen’s Monday Musings.  She made the most gorgeous ATC for me!!

Isn’t it amazing?  She also sent me a few extra goodies.

Thank you so much, Karen!:)

Ms. January’s Pinup Challenge

Hi!  I have the privilege of being Ms. January for Bombshell Stamps!  So, I was able to pick my own challenge for this month….”Let’s Play Tag!”  People just have to make a tag, or use a tag in their project, using Bombshell Stamps this month.

Here’s what I made, using the Harley Bikes stamp set from Bombshell Stamps.

I used two tags!  I embossed the big tag and then distressed it.  The small tag came with a pair of my husband’s work boots, so I snatched it up and stamped on it.:)

Thanks for looking!  I hope you get a chance to play along with my challenge this month.
