Kickstart Your Art Challenge–Day 4!

Hello!  I’m so impressed with how many lovely people have been playing all week with us!

Today we have a new prompt for you on the Smeared and Smudged Blog.  Our prompt today is “Growth”.

Here’s the page that I made for today…

DSCN1598v2

I used digi stamps from the Killer Bo Peep set from Smeared Ink.

I’m drawing the conclusion that I’ve seen too many cartoons because I can totally hear Invader Zim’s voice reading the garden sign, lol.

Thanks for looking!

Kickstart Your Art Challenge–Day 3!

Hello!  I am so excited by all of the awesome participants we’ve had so far in our week long challenge!  I really hope that after this event is over you will all come join us as we post more weekly prompts and techniques in the Art Journal Every Day group at Smeared and Smudged.  I’ve noticed that several have made comments about not being “good” at art journaling, or not knowing how to do it…but in reality you have all made beautiful pages.  Just try to remember that with art journaling there really isn’t a set “right” or “wrong”.  That’s the beauty of it…you can express yourself however you feel right at that time.

Okay, pep talk over.Winking smile  Today is a new technique challenge.  And I got to be the one to do this technique.  Huzzah!

You can find the technique instructions HERE.

And in a little under an hour you will be able to start linking your Day 3 creations on the Smeared and Smudged Blog.

Here’s my finished page…

DSCN1595v2

I used the image that Smeared Ink is offering as the January Freaky Freebie on the forum.  It’s only available this month as a freebie, so run, don’t walk, and grab it before it’s gone.

And now I am compelled to tell you why I went with this color scheme and this sentiment.  I am a geek.  I love comic book-based stuff.  So, I used to watch Justice League Unlimited all the time.  There is an episode where Batman sings the classic song “Am I Blue” and it is totally awesome.  So yes, my journal page is based on one of my favorite cartoon episodes.

Thanks for looking!  And if you actually read all of my ramblings, then you deserve a hug.

Catching Up Again and Reminders

Hello!  For some reason I have been having trouble remembering to post things to my own blog lately.  I’ll remember to post on a forum, or on a challenge blog, but not on my own blog.  I think my brain is just too overloaded right now.

Anyway, one of the things I have forgotten to post is my project for our new challenge over at Chromatic Craze.

Here are the colors we’re using this month.

January 2014 Color Challenge

And here is my journal page, using one of the Dyan Reaveley/Dylusions stamps.

DSCN1575v2

Our challenges run for a whole month there, so I hope you’ll consider joining us.

The other thing I forgot to post here is that I had a turn again over in the Art Journal Every Day group at Smeared and Smudged.  The technique I posted was Fun with Gouache.  Here’s my finished page from that one.

DSCN1555v2

And I also posted a prompt that week that was Emboss It.  Here’s my page from that one.

DSCN1557v2

Both of these pages used stamps from the Heart Wings set from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.

Speaking of the Art Journal Every Day group, tomorrow begins our week long Kickstart Your Art Challenge.  We’ll be posting prompts and techniques all week for everyone to play along with.  I hope you’ll join us.

Thanks for looking!  And hopefully I’ll start remembering to update my own blog more often.

Smeared and Smudged January Member Blog Hop!

Hello!  Today is the monthly blog hop for the members of Smeared and Smudged.  If you are following the hop order then you should have arrived here from Tori’s rockin’ blog.  If not, the entire list is below for your hopping pleasure.

Our theme this month was “Anything Goes”.  The only requirement was that we had to use some kind of stamp somewhere on our projects.  Lots of room to play!

I made another mixed media canvas.

I used a couple of the sentiment stamps from the Li’l Grumpies set from Smeared Ink.(available here as a digi set)  And I did the little drawing a few months ago while I was in a hospital waiting room, lol.  I learned how to draw characters like these from Megan K. Suarez’ Cute and Creepy workshop.

Thanks for looking!  If you’re following the hop order then you should be off to Sue’s lovely blog next.

Here’s the entire hop list, in case you need it…

Musically Challenged #16–Songs from Movies

Hello!  Today begins our new challenge at Musically Challenged.  We’ve changed things up a bit and this time around we want you to make a project based on a song from a movie…that’s right, any song, from any movie!

Our sponsor this time is Sassy Studio Designs, so that’s where my Briar Rose image is from.

I chose to go with the song Once Upon a Dream from the movie Sleeping Beauty.  It’s one of my favorite movie songs.

Here’s my card…

DICC #69–The Stamping Boutique

Hello!  Today begins a new challenge for us over at DICC.  This time around our lovely sponsor is The Stamping Boutique.  The images are so cute!

Here’s the itinerary that we’re using this time…

1.  Glitter

2.  Ribbon

3.  Die Cut

4.  Airbrushing or Spray (Perfect Pearls Mists, Memories Mists, Dylusions)

5.  Snowflakes

6.  Winter theme with Summer colors

7.  Stencil

8.  Three Layers

9.  Pocket

10. Distressing

I’ve used 1,2,8,10 for my card…

DSCN1498

It’s kind of hard to tell, but I used a glittery pen to highlight all of the little sparkly bits on the image.  I also used a distressing tool around the edges of the image and then applied Distress Ink.

Thanks for looking!

More Art Journal Pages

Hello!  I am so behind on things right now!  I wanted to show you a couple of art journal pages that I made to go along with some of the art journal prompts and techniques on Smeared and Smudged.

I made this page to go along with the Hope Prompt that Julia posted…

DSCN1483v2

The stamps I used in the background are from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.  The bird is from the Holy City set, and the mesh one is from the Quoth the Raven set.

And here is a page I made to go along with Julia’s Technique post

The stamp I used in the background is another one from the Quoth the Raven set from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.  The bat stamp is from Luni.

Thanks for looking!  Be sure to check out the new prompts and techniques that have went up in the Art Journal Every Day group.  We’d love to see your work in your journals!
