Hello!  I’m back for day 3!

Smudgefest Day 3 – Wicked Wednesday

I was inspired by the patterns and colors of the peacock’s feathers.

My image is Mermaid – Carnies from Smeared Ink.  It’s hard to tell in the photos, but all of the paints I used are shimmery.

Musically Challenged Goes Goth

Hello!  Today starts a new challenge for us at Musically Challenged.  This time around we just have to base our projects on a Goth Song.

This challenge was a lot of fun for me because I have been a fan of goth music for a very long time.  It was actually really hard for me to choose just one song.

Our fabulous sponsor this time around is Sweet Pea Stamps.  I chose to use an image by Rebecca Sinz.

I ended up choosing the song Opium by Moonspell.

Kickstart Your Art Challenge–Day 3!

Hello!  I am so excited by all of the awesome participants we’ve had so far in our week long challenge!  I really hope that after this event is over you will all come join us as we post more weekly prompts and techniques in the Art Journal Every Day group at Smeared and Smudged.  I’ve noticed that several have made comments about not being “good” at art journaling, or not knowing how to do it…but in reality you have all made beautiful pages.  Just try to remember that with art journaling there really isn’t a set “right” or “wrong”.  That’s the beauty of it…you can express yourself however you feel right at that time.

Okay, pep talk over.Winking smile  Today is a new technique challenge.  And I got to be the one to do this technique.  Huzzah!

You can find the technique instructions HERE.

And in a little under an hour you will be able to start linking your Day 3 creations on the Smeared and Smudged Blog.

Here’s my finished page…

DSCN1595v2

I used the image that Smeared Ink is offering as the January Freaky Freebie on the forum.  It’s only available this month as a freebie, so run, don’t walk, and grab it before it’s gone.

And now I am compelled to tell you why I went with this color scheme and this sentiment.  I am a geek.  I love comic book-based stuff.  So, I used to watch Justice League Unlimited all the time.  There is an episode where Batman sings the classic song “Am I Blue” and it is totally awesome.  So yes, my journal page is based on one of my favorite cartoon episodes.

Thanks for looking!  And if you actually read all of my ramblings, then you deserve a hug.

Catching Up Again and Reminders

Hello!  For some reason I have been having trouble remembering to post things to my own blog lately.  I’ll remember to post on a forum, or on a challenge blog, but not on my own blog.  I think my brain is just too overloaded right now.

Anyway, one of the things I have forgotten to post is my project for our new challenge over at Chromatic Craze.

Here are the colors we’re using this month.

January 2014 Color Challenge

And here is my journal page, using one of the Dyan Reaveley/Dylusions stamps.

DSCN1574v2

DSCN1575v2

Our challenges run for a whole month there, so I hope you’ll consider joining us.

The other thing I forgot to post here is that I had a turn again over in the Art Journal Every Day group at Smeared and Smudged.  The technique I posted was Fun with Gouache.  Here’s my finished page from that one.

DSCN1555v2

And I also posted a prompt that week that was Emboss It.  Here’s my page from that one.

DSCN1557v2

Both of these pages used stamps from the Heart Wings set from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.

Speaking of the Art Journal Every Day group, tomorrow begins our week long Kickstart Your Art Challenge.  We’ll be posting prompts and techniques all week for everyone to play along with.  I hope you’ll join us.

Thanks for looking!  And hopefully I’ll start remembering to update my own blog more often.

Hello!  Today is the monthly blog hop for the members of Smeared and Smudged.  If you are following the hop order then you should have arrived here from Tori’s rockin’ blog.  If not, the entire list is below for your hopping pleasure.

Our theme this month was “Anything Goes”.  The only requirement was that we had to use some kind of stamp somewhere on our projects.  Lots of room to play!

I made another mixed media canvas.

DSCN1546v2

DSCN1541v2

I used a couple of the sentiment stamps from the Li’l Grumpies set from Smeared Ink.(available here as a digi set)  And I did the little drawing a few months ago while I was in a hospital waiting room, lol.  I learned how to draw characters like these from Megan K. Suarez’ Cute and Creepy workshop.
